Japanese kimono are made from a single length of fabric that is approximately 14 metres long and 37cm (14.5") wide.
While outwardly simple, making a kimono is in fact a complex task with very few cuts in the entire garment. Originally Japanese women would hand sew the kimono, unpick and resew them each time they required cleaning.
Kimono silk is ideal for making bags, accessories, using in hand-crafts or fashion projects.
This silk comes from a vintage kimono that has been carefully unpicked.
Colour: off-white, red, pink, yellow and soft blue
Quality: average vintage condition (some tiny age marks and thread holes)
Fabric weight: lightweight and soft to touch
