Floral Woodblock Print
Japanese culture is known for its emphasis on all things floral, and this woodblock print is no exception. Anywhere between 40 to 60 years old, it was made using the traditional woodblock method and was probably created for the Japanese interiors market. People in Japan are big fans of gorgeous florals just as we are in the West.
This print depicts a blue hyacinth.
This print has been worked onto traditional Japanese paper called washi. It has been printed and coloured by hand. It comes encased in a heavy paper mat.
A group of framed woodblock prints look particularly stunning hanging together on the wall of almost any interior – modern, classical or contemporary. The choice of framing can influence the final look of the image or group of images.
Woodblock prints make great gifts – especially for weddings!
